We've been coming to The Dog for a few years and it has recently had a refurb which is very nice.We came on a Friday at around 5pm without a booking. The place was busy so would recommend booking in advance. We managed to get a table after about an hour by chance.Great value food - vegetarian burger and gammon, egg, and chips. The staff were very friendly. The meal was good but not as hot as it should have been. I understand there was a problem in the kitchen in that we had to wait quite a while for our meal (not that it mattered on this occasion) as there was only one chef available and the place was very busy.

Visited the other day with my wife, and we were served and greeted by a gentleman in a yellow/mustard coloured jumper. I didn't catch his name.He was absolutely pleasant and reminded me of the younger days when gentlemen were gentlemen.The food was good, but customer service from this gentleman was great and will return again.
