At the end of the second leg of our walk along the South Downs Way, twenty-six miles behind us and down to a half a bottle each of water, we reached our pick-up point and demanded a beer and a bite!Harry welcomed us with old school grandeur and a smile as he poured pints and showed us the menu.The meal and the atmosphere was first class. Arrived early evening no booking. The pub was busy only one barman working he was absolutely fantastic, polite, professional, quick, attentive it was like three people morphed into one he warmed his customers it may take slightly longer to be served emphasised quality was most important and so it proved to be the case without having to wait very long at all. We stayed overnight and had dinner then breakfast in the morning. Lovely little pub, friendly staff and delicious food. Our room was delightful, bed very comfortable, clean, light and spacious. Well stocked teac and coffee choices with fresh milk a nice touch.
