I am one of four retired men who enjoy regular cross-country hikes. Last Thursday, we started and finished our latest 7-mile trek at the Coach & Horses in Compton, a small town (population 450 approx.), so we were pleasantly surprised to discover this highly civilised pub in the town square. The pub is carefully decorated and provides patrons with a modern setting that manages to create a traditional ambience. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts on arrival and invited to choose to remain in the bar or to go straight to our table. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and well presented. Our food was delicious and I would recommend the soup of the day! All in all a most enjoyable couple of hours. We will certainly be returning to this lovely pub.

Stumbled across this place on a bike ride - completely random and unplanned.What a lovely pub. Staff are superb and the food absolutely delicious. Lovely setting inside too. Clean and nicely decorated. If only I lived closer, I’d be a regular. ?
