Took some friends for a meal to Bradford Akbars as they love the Manchester one and I wanted to treat them to somewhere different. Overall came away quite disappointed as we used to love this place. The restaurant is now unlicensed (no mention on the website that I can see) and so that was the first disappointment as the options were either pop in a bottle with a straw or tap water - we opted for the latter. We had a catch-up with a good friend from Bradford at Akbar’s on a Monday evening. It was busier than we expected but that didn’t detract from the excellent service that we received from Mohsin and other staff or the food that we ate (popadoms & pickles, starters, mains - with a family garlic Nan - and desserts). I visited Akbars on a Friday, and it truly lived up to its reputation. The experience was a perfect blend of courteous and respectful customer service, an atmosphere brimming with positive energy, and a diverse crowd from various cultural backgrounds.
