Proper pub food done very well indeed. Beers were kept very well, Butcombe particularly good. Staff were friendly, service was very good.

Great stay. Sean and Nigel were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly and super helpful. Great pub downstairs, very comfortable beds and clean rooms. 10/10 would recommend! Beautiful location and an easy bus ride into bath.

We really enjoyed our stay here for a weekend. Very clean room and we were lucky enough to have an ensuite with a separate bath and shower. We had dinner in the pub downstairs on the first night and it was delicious. Unfortunately we were too late to put in a breakfast order for Monday morning as we got back late on Sunday evening (after 5pm). But there was a good farm shop breakfast nearby. All the staff were very helpful and accommodating and we felt very welcome. We would definitely stay again if we are back in the area.

What a lovely surprise! A gorgeous old English pub, beautifully presented. Plenty of off street parking (no fee), a lovely beer garden with plenty of tables and seating and a bar that welcomes you to stay. I stayed for 2 nights in a very well appointed room, with en suite, overlooking the garden. Modern decor with a salute to the past (see photos). No scrimping on the tea making facilities here, plenty of everything. Modern bathroom with shower, toiletries and fluffy towels. I didn’t go any further than their dining room for dinner. Their menu had something for everyone and, in my humble opinion, it was well above your usual standard of pub meal. I ate there again the next night also!!! Breakfast is extra, but once again, generous portions and more than enough to take for lunch. I have to commend and thank all those who made my stay an extremely pleasant one ….. I’m sorry I had to leave. Highly recommend and would love to stay there again.

Great pub, great food, great place to spend a night or two. We had booked 2 rooms, both clean and comfortable. The food served was delicious.Took the owners suggestion and visited Farleigh Road Farm Shop for breakfast, which was a great idea. Lovely place and very good food.

Start with the room. Clean and roomy. Smart TV was great-meant we could access Netflix…..just as well really, as the pub&restaurant were closed, as was the pub down the road. This was on a Monday. If you are looking for dinner on a Monday and you are staying here, you’ll need to drive . Think it’s all closed Tuesday as well. My wife & I like staying in pub accommodation as it means (usually) you can park up and enjoy a beer & bite without having to drive. Yo charge £110.00 just for the room is a little over the top. There’s plenty of accommodation for less in the surrounding area offering more. So why did I book here you may ask? Because I’ve stayed here, enjoyed the pub restaurant experience and thought we would do it again….word to the wise….check carefully when booking if the pub restaurant are open, otherwise you are staying in an overpriced (clean though) room in a very sleepy village….I likened it to a ghost town. Some might like that. I’ll learn from my mistake & read the small print

Great pub, great food, great place to spend a night or two. We had booked 2 rooms, both very clean and comfortable. The food served was delicious. Small little village, easy parking, charming pub and great food. Can’t get much better than that. Took the owners suggestion and visited Farleigh Road Farm Shop for breakfast, which was a great idea. Lovely place and very good food.

The rooms were super clean and very well kept. The rest of the building was very clean and well kept too. The restaurant/pub had very good food and would recommend the burger with coleslaw on the side. It is a little bit of a drive into bath (About 15 min max by bus) Bus stop is located right outside and there’s a little general store across the street for anything you forgot. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the road was a little busy and would get a little loud but nothing I couldn’t sleep through.

My wife and I arrived in Hinton Charterhouse on a warm Sunday afternoon after a long tiring drive from Newcastle. The Rose and Crown had easy parking and for a three- night stay we had minimal luggage. The pub was open and the check in by the manager was simple since we had booked and paid the week before. The pub was full of character and our room, which looked out on to crossroads, was all that we wanted. The large double bed with a continental duvet looked good and later proved to be very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was large and had both a bath and separate shower. There were a range of toiletries and large fluffy towels. The whole suite was scrupulously clean. The Rose and Crown is closed as a restaurant and pub on Mondays and Tuesdays but we were still able to have continental breakfast on both those days. Access was easy with an exterior doo key and a room key. We liked having a bedroom key as opposed to a keycard since there was no way to lock ourselves out of our room by mistake. The continental breakfasts offered a good choice with cereals, pastries, croixants, fresh fruits, yoghurts and various milks and juices. These were able to eat on a tray in our room where there was a kettle with teas and coffee already provided. All of the staff were helpful and accommodating and it was great just to be able sit inside or outdoors on a summer’s day to savour the local Butcombe brew. The Rose and Crown was a very good choice and we highly recommend it.

This bed and breakfast is a great place to stay if you want to stay outside the city. The property is beautiful and staff is very accommodating. Additionally, there is a restaurant and pub attached with good food, however, check the opening/closing hours. It is a good 25 min bus ride to bath, but minutes from multiple public footpaths in the countryside. Only issue was the rooms can get loud in the morning since the property sits right on the road.

The pub was absolutely perfect! We booked a room and didn't realise we needed to check in advance about pet room availability. Luckily they managed to sort the room out for us. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. The dog rooms were modern very clean and separate to the main pub so you can walk straight out into the beer garden. As for the food I wish I'd taken a photo of it but I was too busy enjoying it. I had the lamb dinner and my partner had the pie both recommended. If you want to treat yourself get the Berry Pavlova, all I can say is wow ! ?Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Rose & Crown guesthouse for a Saturday overnight stay whilst attending a family gathering at the same venue. The Rose & Crown is located in the pleasant village of Hinton Charterhouse approximately 6 miles from Bath. We arrived late afternoon and there is a good amount of free parking for customers here. We checked into or accommodation in the public bar and was shown to one of a pair of rooms detached from the main building and accessible via a short staircase. The accommodation building has its own access door key in addition to your allocated room key so is quite secure. The room was a good size the two of us were able to move about without any problems, Natural daylight comes from a window looking out over the pub garden / car park. The room was furnished with a double bed, bedside cabinets with table lamps, dressing table and two chairs. A good sized wardrobe was available for use. There were plentiful plug sockets in the room though no USB charging points for mobile phones that we saw. Tea & Coffee making facilities were available in the room. The room was clean and well presented. The bathroom had a good sized shower cubicle, wash basin, toilet and radiator, there was plenty of room to move about inside. We both found the bed comfortable and slept well, though we thought the duvet was a bit short. A ‘continental’ breakfast was available for an additional fee and was pre ordered the evening before. This was collected by the guest in the morning from the main building and eaten in the room. The breakfast was subject to a choice but typically consisted of fruit, cereal, croissants (with jam or marmalade) and fruit juice and we thought was good value for money. We would undoubtedly visit here again if we were in the area and although a little away from the beautiful city of Bath, would still make a good place to stay whilst exploring the city and surrounding area.
