A true institution of reading.The pies here are the best, it’s delicious, traditional and you can eat them at home or in the restaurant. Sweeny is my favourite place to eat in reading.
Fantastic homemade pies. They are absolutely full of flavour. Many varieties to choose from and recommend the homemade cut chips. We ordered the gravy which was fantastic. This shop has been going for 44 years. All made The pies are made from scratch using traditional tin to cook the pies in. They also had a wide dessert menu, including apple crumble and many traditional puddings. Perfectly kept pint as usual, friendly service and the pies are as good as ever. Harvey’s Best, Butcombe Bitter or Proper Job make a fine selection of ales. Pie with cauliflower cheese, then proper pudding with custard, all at a reasonable price. It’s a pleasure to support this gem, Reading’s finest.
