The Lion at Malpas

1 Old Hall St, Malpas

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Lion. What an incredible day! The service we received initially when booking our wedding from Louise Smith was excellent, her knowledge and experience helped us with our planning. On the day of the wedding, the staff were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to ensure our day was special. We would like to thank in particular Tia, Chloe and Ali for all their efforts on the day. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The accommodation was beautiful, thank you Dawn for all your efforts too. We would highly recommend The Lion for your wedding venue.

We had a short but very sweet stay at The Carden Arms and will definitely be back for hopefully a longer visit next time. We stayed in the family room which our 3 & 6yo loved. Bunk beds were perfect and we all loved the big four poster bed too as well as the lovely bathroom. All the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, even at breakfast tailoring it for our kids. The pub had a lovely busy atmosphere in the evening and next time we’ll be coming for dinner too. Highly recommend!!

A Table At Eatons

5 Church St, Malpas

As a birthday treat, I booked a table at Eatons on the recommendation of the owner of our accomadation. The experience was memorable to say the least. John was the most welcoming of hosts, and his wife Louise proved to be the most amazing chef. My unusual starter of Leek and Feta Croquets was superb, and my Husband said his choice of Scallop Thermadore was incredible.\n I followed this with melt in the mouth Poached Salmon with Asparagus in a lemon Sauce, the additionn of shredded cabbage with caraway seeds was an inspiration. My Husband had Pork Fillet with Black Pudding and caramalised apple sauce, which he claimed was the best pork dish he hadever eaten.\n As the size of the meals was perfect for me, I was able to indulge my sweet tooth with a dessert of Sticky Cape Pudding, a feather light cake made with dates and walnuts, originating in South Africa. My Husband chose Apple and Blackberry Crumble with Custard, thoughtfully adorned with a gold candle to celebrate his special day.\n We finished with coffee and a home made truffle, during which John and Louise joined us and we spent a wonderful half an hour listening to their experiences of a lifetime in the hospitality industry.\n I felt the cost of such a feast was extreemly good value, and I would certainly recommend a Table At Etons for that celebration meal. Many Thanks John and Louise for making my Husband's Birthday so special.

Excellent cafe, friendly, good food and value for money. Well that was my previous experience but all appears to have changed and I won’t be crossing their door again. Service was, well that’s the point there wasn’t any
Glad to say, we called in again as Mum went to the dentist next door and everything was great again. Guess everyone is entitled to have a bad day, and maybe they had personal problems, it can be difficult dealing with us the public all the time. So sorry for being harsh before.

Lost Barn Coffee Roasters

Old Hall Farm, Tilston

An amazing barn conversion found down beautiful country lanes surrounded by rolling hills. A lot of local people bike to the barn as there is ample bike storage. Lost barn serves something for everyone, lots of health tonics, smoothies, fire cider and delicious matcha. Vegan and gluten free options. The best coffee that is sold by a lot of my favourite coffee shops. They also have a farm shop with food and wellbeing products. Prices are fairly high for the portion size you get with food but the food is superbly presented and tasty.

Proper belly buster. Got a mighty meat pizza and the lovely thick pie of flesh hit the spot. If you want a light thin wisp of a pizza go to pizza express but if you want your gut filled with tasty, greasy, lovelyness and leave feeling like you could go on for days go here!

Lovely pub with a huge outdoor seating area too. Varied menu. We had a turkey sandwich and a cajun chicken ciabatta. Both were really fresh with slaw and fries/crisps. Good service and value for money. Very quiet when we visited.
