I can't think of a better all round pub than the Fetherston Arms. The food is of a very high standard and hits the table piping hot. Not microwave hot, properly cooked through hot. 5 weeks on the road in the motorhome and I didn’t fancy cooking my evening meal. Found myself not far from Kirkoswald, a quick Google and the Fetherston Arms sounded good for a visit and food.I received a lovely warm welcome and despite the tables being fully booked the landlady very kindly found me and my dog a table. We visited on a recommendation by the cottage owner and glad we booked. We went on a Thursday which is traditionally their pie night but it did also serve the normal menus too. Husband had Hommity Pie which he said was the best he ever had, I had sausage and mash and that was delicious too - not too much so you didn’t feel stuffed.
