I've drove passed this chippy for years and years and not once thought about trying it out until 1 time I was passing and I could smell the aroma of fish and chips. Parked up and walked back and had Fish and Chips and Mushy peas. I've never had such a nice fish and chips anywhere else. These were the best I've had and totally enjoyed them. We are in Whitehaven for a 6 day break. Did a quick search for a decent chippy & the cottage chippy came up. Found it easily on the sat nav, parking is limited but there is a little side street beside it & we also found out you can park on the pavement at either side of the road. We had 2 medium fish & chips & a smoked sausage. All cooked perfectly & tasted superb. Lovely , friendly staff, excellent all round experience. Will definitely pop back before we leave. 100% recommended.

My only gripe is you can't pay on card, that's fine as luckily I had some cash as we were up for a family wedding, never been to the area before. Proper traditional chipshop in a front room style lil cottage. Amazing value for money and its not fish n chips, it's whale sized fish. We had two large fish n chips and two large sauces. £18. So cheap and the fish was delicious and so fresh. Lovely.
