We called in for a cup of tea on our first day in Bakewell. We noticed a couple were turned away as they wanted a table for 2, even though there were plenty of vacant tables but they were all bigger, for 4 or 6. This couple were not very happy, and understandably so. Went in for lunch today with little in the way of expectations..to be honest was expecting overpriced tourist food . How wrong was I! Not the cheapest of sandwiches I thought but the size and quality of portions was second to none.. fantastic. My wife had fish finger sandwich..had 3 large portions of home battered fish on there and my pork sandwich was exceptional. The tiger bread do good. My wife had a 'freakshake' described as brownie ... definitely more than that.. incredible...read full review

We breakfasted here twice on our trip to Bakewell and thoroughly recommend both the upstairs cafe and the downstairs bakery . The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially Callum , the food and coffee excellent and it was dog friendly. Don’t go home without a pudding!
