Staying in Bakewell for two nights, we came to The Wheatsheaf both nights for drinks and dinner, largely because of the manager Michael. He made us so welcome and reminded us of how rarely you encounter true customer service with a smile. I had Hendricks gin both nights and he went unprompted to the kitchen to cut me cucumber to go with it . Our dog was treated like a rock star and had to be dragged out as he didn’t want to leave. Only popped in for a coffee & pint , ended up having some nachos and they were spot on . Beer selection was good & very dog friendly ! Would definitely recommend if your in the area !

With its modern style decor and furnishings the Wheatsheaf doesn’t have the local pub feel that I prefer. I must say however that as a bar it is very good. The service was welcoming, the beers good and, on a very cold evening, our chairs near the real fire suited us perfectly. We would certainly use it again.
