Hidden Gem! Wow what a find.We booked a table here for an early Mother's day meal. We were the first people there for lunch, but others started arriving soon after. They had a good selection of homemade food on the menu. The lady who served us was very nice and explained various aspects of the menu items perfectly. A luverly local pub with very happy staff + very clean. Toilets had everything you needed. Didn't eat here as the website was not updated and didn't have the fish platter we were looking forward to.
This was my first visit with friends who live locally and as far as good pubs go the Shakespeare is right up there as one of the best. It has a warm, comfortable, homely feel like all the best traditional pubs should have and has a real family feel to the way it is being run. The staff are friendly, as were the clientele, it has sports on corner tv's that are not overly imposing, a well stocked and kept bar (the beer was excellent) and a huge garden area at the rear.
