It’s a proper pub! I visited with family over the Xmas holiday and we went there 3 times in total. The food is simple but delicious and priced properly. It’s a Devon pub for Christ sake, it’s what it should be. Good beer, good food, wellies at the front door and lovely staff! I work in a 900year old traditional thatched pub in East Devon and is very similar, but I would say this place is even more English pub than the one I work in. We to were a family on holiday over the Christmas period, we visited, three times in total, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing, my son and I had a meal on Christmas Eve, which was simple but actually very good, and great value, The staff on all three days were friendly and chatty, We were even given a free drink on Christmas morning which I wasn’t expecting but very graciously received. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were very pleasant and the food was excellent. The pub was quite busy, but everything went very smoothly. A great experience. We will go back.
