Gaggle of Geese

Buckland Newton, Dorchester

Left the Gaggle Of Geese after a lovely weekend away celebrating our wedding anniversary. What an absolutely lovely experience it was. We stayed in the Birdie Shepard Hut and it was really nice and exactly what we wanted. The inside log burner was a fantastic unexpected addition which came in really handy. And we really appreciated the welcome pack which again was unexpected. Together we ate and drank in the pub and found all the staff excellent and extremely friendly as well as the locals and the resident dog who happily greeted us on both mornings. The grounds were big and fun with plenty to do for couples and families. Overall it was a very blissful experience that we both loved and we would happily return in the future with our children.

The Halsey Arms

The Halsey Arms, Pulham, Dorchester

We know its under new management but we called in under the of chance they were open on a saturday at 2.30pm.They werent open but they opened the doors and let us in.They were closed but they still cooked us cheese burger and chips obviously with drinks .We had a walk around the pub and noticed they have a function room with skittle alley Dart board and a games room and soon to be 2 televisions.Apparantly they have live bands in the function room .The food was cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. There food has gone back to basics but they are good at what they do.This pub seems to be what this area needs.Good luck Ross and team.
