Saxon Arms
20 The Square, Stratton, DorchesterWas passing through Sunday 24th March after a long day of driving and came across this pub on our maps. We wanted a little break so decided to give this place ago. What an treasure of a place!! The minute we walked in it was the most welcoming atmosphere. We were able to order food which I was worried about as most places require bookings but they immediately set a table for us and came and took our order. We ordered two beef roast and they were presented so nicely and was very tasty ? All staff was so friendly, one guy in particular I didn't quite catch his name, hair tied back, was a credit to the place he was so upbeat. Which is so refreshing to see.

The Gamekeeper
16 North St, Charminster, DorchesterWell what a wee gem of a place. Celebrated my mums 80th birthday here and the staff were attentive, smiley and helped make it special. Carvery served multiple meats as well as a vegetarian option. Having the play park stopped the wee ones getting restless after the meal too. Great place and definitely recommended.

The Sun Inn
The Sun Inn, Lower Burton, DorchesterI have visited the Sun Inn on several occasions, every time for one of their legendary carveries. The quality of the food is exceptional for a carvery. The vegetables have small-batch taste to them. The roast potatoes are crispy flavoursome. There is a good choice of side vegetables. I particularly like to see roasted beetroot on the menu. I had the but roast and my company had roast beef. The Sun Inn is well recommended.
