Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere in this well stocked real ale pub. Attached to the Consett Real Ale Works Micro-Brewery, you have a great choice of some excellent ales to suit all tastes.....and at fantastic low prices.Thursday nights offer 'street food' with a different vendor (pizza, Greek, Thai, Indian, etc.) taking turns to park right outside the doors. Great little real ale boozer with very friendly and fun staff and a super selection of their own brewed ales and good guest ales. I'm marking food mid simply because it's a small selection of toasties, and whilst they're fine, it's not a good selection overall.

Loved this pub. The locals were friendly and accommodating. The beer, brewed out the back, was fantastic. We really liked all the nik-naks and historical items that decorate the walls. It's dog friendly, so if you're not, you might not like it. As far as I saw, there is no food except crisps and nuts so my five stars is for beer.
