Pithouse Ln, Leamside, Houghton le SpringLovely room - good value for money. Whole establishment fitted out to a very high standard, including the bar and restaurant areas. Very busy place - going like a fair when we stayed. Even breakfasts had walk-ins off the street. Its quite close to the M1 - we could see it clearly from our window so some outside traffic noise but not apparent in the room with windows closed. One thing that we noticed, and probably because of the walk-ins was that there isn't the usual breakfast buffet for cereals, juice etc , its all ordered from the menu - restaurant style, so remember to ask for orange juice toast if you are a resident etc. Definitely recommend booking for dinner as its a very busy place. They were able to advise on gluten free options although they don't have a separate fryer for chips etc. There was even a gluten free beer on draught on our first night but sadly off on the second. Service was quick and efficient and very attentive. Special shout out to the lovely 70+ year old housekeeper who asked us about our stay as we were leaving.

Fusion Restaurant
Ramside Hall Hotel, DurhamQuality of food was absolutely excellent, included in the spa deal alongside Ramside Hall. Honey maple tofu from the vegan menu was absolutely fantastic. Only room for improvements was based on the service - had to go to the bar to be served and pay our bill after waiting a lengthy time at our table. Fortunately we also looked online ahead of our visit so knew there was a vegan menu to ask for, however this was not given to us!
