Pubs in Rye
“We met family for dinner and stayed the night. Dinner: friendly staff, good choice of ales, and table in the comfortable main bar. The food was excellent and - given its high quality - very reasonably priced. Local ingredients, well cooked and presented. The steak and ale pie was excellent! The room was smaller than expected (great photography!) and as advertised, sloping and olde worlde! All the basics were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good.”
“Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. The fish and chips were delightful and the haddock fish cakes are packed full of flavour. My friend who is picky on where she eats absolutely loved their chocolate brownie, sniffing it in delight and was happy to find a lemon wedge with the fish as she was mentioning how so many places she's been to don't.”
“Great pub. Beautiful views, cosy vibe with wood burners and, importantly, delicious food with some unique tasty dishes. Lovely friendly service and immaculately clean toilets (always a sign of a high standard in my book). My partner had the set menu and I had the fish & chips which we felt was good value for money. Highly recommend as a beautiful relaxing country pub.”
“Had Sunday lunch here and it was so delicious. Home made Yorkshire puds and home made apple pie.We will definitely be coming back here again. The best Sunday lunch in a very long time ❤️❤️”
“This was my favourite pub that we visited in Rye, with an excellent beer selection that is varied enough to suit most tastes (I may or may not have tried almost all of the ones on offer over the course of 3 visits.) Dark and atmospheric, we found it to be a great place to hide away on a wet and windy afternoon / evening.”
“The oldest pub from 1390 in Rye and it just oozes character . Fabulous pub. We went for lunch, had the burger and delicious. Good location just off the main high street shops.Wheelchair accessibility: Side door for this access”
“Wonderful Sunday lunch. Great atmosphere. Friendly efficient service. Loved the quirky decor - why can’t more pubs be like this. Wish we lived nearer!Vegetarian options: Good Vegetarian roast (best to check gravy is vegetarian though)”
“What an amazing place had a week on holiday and popped in to the castle camber and what a lovely friendly pub. I was only there for a bit and already felt so welcomed like a 'local' subsequently we went another 3 times in the evening after what an atmosphere definitely recommend it to anyone thank you Pete and staff”

“Came in a few times while on short break in Rye - lovely place, full of character and friendly atmosphere. Great selection of ciders and beers. Seems popular with locals and tourists. A must for any visitor to Rye.”
