Went for a pint and stayed for four. Local ale and homemade pork pie and scotch egg were exceptional. Staff were amazing. Close quarters seating arrangement was a positive as we met some lovely people.
I was walking through Rye on my day-trip, hoping to try a few of the pubs. I was actually on my way to a different pub when I was lured into the Waterworks, initially because of the long list of real ales on a chalkboard out front, and then by the charming exterior, and once I stepped inside, I was sold.... and I hadn't even had a sip of the ale yet! Came in a few times while on short break in Rye - lovely place, full of character and friendly atmosphere. Great selection of ciders and beers. Seems popular with locals and tourists. A must for any visitor to Rye.
