I work locally and visit Something Scrummy a few times a week. Sometimes for lunch or breakfast and other times just a delicious cake! Many people have commented that this is the nicest cafe in Braintree. And I have to agree! The environment within the cafe is calm, fresh and bright. The food is lovely and the staff are always happy.
The yolk of my poached egg, a trickle of golden spring sunshine, runs across my plate combining the delectable contents - a lightly toasted muffin, crispy bacon and sliced avocado, all decorated with a pinch of chopped chives. I have been waiting for an excuse to come to Braintree since last month when I was treated to the same dish and it doesn’t disappoint. It's all you want in a cafe really.Decent food in good time and a friendly service.You don't always get things as you'd expect eg cornbeef cooked up, but they are always happy to make things right.Perhaps chocolate fudge cake isn't quite as fudgy but all in all, nice quality dining.Good variety on offer.Kid-friendliness: It doesn't have a pub atmosphere.No alcohol and small meals are availableWheelchair accessibility: No steps to entry and the toilet is on the same floor.
