This stalwart of Walden remains an amazing 'old school chippy' in the heart of town on a quiet back alley (currently canopied with beautiful, colourful umbrellas). They do have some outside seating, and a few seats inside, and on warm summer's days it is a perfect place to sit. Or take away and sit on The Common! The service is excellent here I messaged them a week ago about allergies and they contacted me very quicklyWe went there this evening and the food was lovely the fish was cooked to perfection and the staff were very friendlyWe are so glad we went there this evening

Asked a young gentleman in Saffron Walden Waitrose which is the town's best fish and chip shop and the answer was rapid and emphatic. Large haddock and chips for two people was £23 so not a cheap meal but delicious. We sat on a park bench and watched the fun fair. Excellent.
