Best pub in Croydon, one of the best in London for alternative music. Metal nights with Dan and DJ Wolfman are the best ? wish they still did live music but I hear they might start this again soon. I love this place. And having read a recent review I couldn't possibly disagree more. The staff member did not raise their voice. My table was directly next to them and could hear the exchange.The crowd of the ship, especially staff and regulars have always been welcoming to any newcomer, regardless of race or sexual orientation.The staff have a friendly vibe with those who attend and that's why so many of us keep going back. This was the pub to go to for the greatest night out. It had all the characters, the humour, the ambience, friendly bartenders, the best beers. I loved this place. Was here most nights for 10 years in a row back in the late 70s early 80s, before I moved away. If I ever wrote a biography, this place would gets its own chapter. Legend.
