We went for our anniversary in November 2023. It was rather fun to arrive at the restaurant knowing that it was Carte Blanche and we had no idea what we would eat. Before the evening we were asked if we had any dietary requirements or preferences, so there was no chance of having something you didn’t like. Outstanding food and service. Visited with my daughter and the service and food were amazing. What I liked was the restaurant was small but with a good atmosphere. Each course just got better and better. I happened to mention to my daughter that I really didn’t like beetroot, a waiter overheard and asked chef to prepare a different meal for me, this attention to detail really does make this one of my very favourite restaurants. Myself and my wife were lucky enough to be bought vouchers for our birthday for Restaurant 1890. My wife and I have been going to fine dining restaurants once a year for several years. In this time we’ve been fortunate enough to try some 3,2 and 1 star restaurants. I can confidently say 1890 holds its own against any 2 star we’ve been to.
