WHAT A GREAT PUB! I'm so surprised I'm saying this, but I had an excellent time here. Lovely surroundings, great location but mostly cracking food and drinks. I had a genuinely nice sandwich - fresh, soft bread; deliciously fried halloumi; fresh salad; lovely chutney; great fries and a lovely beer. I liked it. Unfortunately it has the feel and service of a number of the big brewer owned and operated places, and the food is that type of fare. However, it is a unique location and place so worthy of a visit and patronage. I'd prefer to give it at least 4.5 stars but there is no option for that. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. We had dinner here last Friday in the small dining area in the back. Good food, nice wines. Our waitress Cheryl was an absolute gem! Such a lovely lady, so friendly and welcoming. We hope to return some day.
