It seems I gave the Standard a 3* review six years ago... Either it or I must have had a bad day. Seeing as I regularly come here for a quick beer; occassionally for the great food and sometimes for the music... I thought it was about time to update my entry. It gets 5*'s all the way now. Love this place.

I like this pub very much BUT. The Standard is an iconic landmark and indeed the entire area around it takes its name from the pub. The bus stop is registered as Blackheath Royal Standard and it defines the difference between what is a real community and the slightly pretentious Village across the Heath. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the best pub in Blackheath , and it exceeded all expectations. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff, not only lovely but also exceptionally good looking, added an extra charm to the place. The service was top-notch, I cannot wait to visit again this Saturday. This pub has truly set the bar high for a memorable night out. Highly recommended!
