23-26 High St, NewportHad a great experience recently. ? It was incredibly quiet when we first arrived, creating such a peaceful atmosphere. I really appreciated that sense of calm from the start, it was perfect for a relaxing time and being able to have conversation. The service was consistently attentive, especially when it came to drinks. ?The staff were always ready to refill our glasses, and it made a big difference. The whole team seemed dedicated to ensuring everyone was well taken care of. It was a really good vibe overall, very welcoming and accommodating. I'm already looking forward to going back sometime soon. I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a place to come and have lots of cocktails!
The food was okay, but the cocktails is what we came for.

Food is delicious , staff is extremely friendly and game selection is beyond belief. We can’t get enough ! Thanks for always being so awesome . Fave place in the isle !

20 High St, NewportI have tried both the food and the drink menu (extensively) in here. I got the 3 plates one evening and the food was fine but I wouldn't say it was particularly special. It was well priced for what it was and took quite a while to come out. As for drinks, I've spent many Friday/Saturday nights in Hogs and the drinks menu is quite large and fairly priced. The bar staff are always attentive and kind here too!

84 Upper St James Street, NewportFood is not cheap, but very much worth it. I've ordered many times from Novo and the food is always good. I particularly recommend the peri peri salted chips.
It's super easy to customise your order by removing or adding options, which is rarely the case with other restaurants. Much appreciated!
Aly is also super communicative, and I always receive a WhatsApp message letting me know when the order is out for delivery.

99 High St, NewportRegular in the lounges and have been in a few. Gave 3 stars for service because I asked to swap bacon for halloumi in the salad. I've done this basically forever, but this member of staff said 'no'. He practically accused me of lying when I said that other lounges had done it. So, not impressed. 3 stars for atmosphere just because it was quiet. I enjoy these places though so don't let it put you off

83 St James' St, NewportSpecial thanks to the team for executing great food for us. Been on the IOW for a year now, and a takeaway is a massive treat. Not let us down once, and even Good Friday, piping hot, good quality and always good service. We were 2 adults and 1 child in one room and the room was spacious enough to accommodate us well. The continental breakfast that was served was lovely and had fresh fruits, excellent coffee made to order, and selection of breads and cereals. I definitely very strongly recommend this place!

I had the Chicken Adobo and it was full of flavour, and you can tell it has been cooked from scratch with real care. At home we always cook everything fresh, so it is rare to find a place that puts the same level of effort into their food. I work in the food service industry and I know how much that effort matters, and here you can taste it in every bite. I will be back on the Isle of Wight soon and this is definitely where I will be eating again.

Takeaway containers rammed to the top, the oyster sauce is amazing as are prawn crackers, can't wait to work through your wonderful menu.
Someone here knows what they're doing. Tried other local places, however this is the best as I'm a fussy beggar.

They have a beer garden, so you can sit in the sun and enjoy a good pint. I'm told that they have really good bands in there on a Saturday night. So, all in all, well worth a visit

18 High St, NewportSo i ordered a takeaway right at the end of delivery service which i usually try to avoid due to if there being any issues with the order, then there's nothing you can do about it, however working on a nightshift, i bit the bullet and indulged.
Dragon City follows the usual negative culprits that all chinese takeaways do on the island which is why it's not a 5 star rating, expensive, not open as late as it should be compared to mainland businesses, not being proper chinese food quality and it being the british version of it all etc... HOWEVER,
The food was honestly the best that i've had on the island from any chinese takeaway establishment. The taste was lovely and the quality good, the staff including the delivery driver was nice and i'll definitely be coming back again. The food portion sizes were great and you could easily tell that whomever prepared my meal, did it properly and with care.
The only downside to this establishment in particular would be the lack of Asian beer. They only sell the usual European soft drinks, coke etc, whereas other Chinese takeaways on the island will sell asian lager like tiger beer, thai beer etc...

Ponders End
Ponders End, Burnt House Ln, NewportWe stayed at the property for two nights in April 2025. As soon as we entered, we felt welcome into David and Agnes' home and were so glad to have stayed here. The rooms were kept stocked with so many goodies! We also enjoyed the hearty breakfasts and Agnes was kind enough to amend it to our dietary needs on a very short notice. Hats off to the effort and personalisation that David and Agnes have put into the house.
