Vernon Cottage
1 Eastcliff Rd, ShanklinHad planned to take my mum to the Old Thatch Teashop but when we arrived it was packed. I asked about sitting in the garden but they offered us a table in the already crowded indoors so we decided to leave.
I'm so glad we did, this tearoom was lovely, we sat in the peaceful pretty garden while eating a delicious cream tea. The staff were lovely and the lady who took my order was very helpful, showing me how large the scones were and agreeing that one between us was okay to order.
Would definitely recommend visiting here.

Pendletons
85 High St, ShanklinBeautifully cooked starters, mains and desert. Very rare to get excellent food for all three courses. Catch of the day was stunning. On the Island for 3 nights. If this restaurant had opened on Sunday and Monday evening we would have returned. Prices so reasonable for the quality of food served. Impeccable friendly service.

Cinders
7 High St, ShanklinMeg, Sarah, and all the others at Cinders are so welcoming - they create a lovely, comfortable atmosphere to have a quick coffee or a scummy lunch and cake in Shanklin. It is also *the* perfect place for mums and parents to meet up with little ones with all the adorable toys in the back room to keep them busy whilst you scoff what you can when they're not looking. I love Cinders!!!!!

The Townhouse 101
101 Station Ave, SandownBeautiful, clean and a very comfortable guest house. Louise our host was very friendly and welcoming.
Rooms are bright, beautiful, clean and very comfy beds. Great bathrooms and showers. Breakfast is delicious and served hot. Lots of choices and veggie options too. Loved the Eggs Benedict, the Granola, and Full English! A few minutes walk to beach, shops, cafes and restaurants. One of the best Guest Houses we have stayed in. Definitely recommend staying here. Very central to explore the rest of the lovely Isle of Wight attractions. For gift shops, Sandown High Street, has some lovely ones or have a drive or walk into Shanklin.

Frostbite Bakery
30 Littlestairs Rd, ShanklinFrostbite did our wedding cake for us this month and it was gorgeous. The process was so easy and they had great communication throughout, from booking to delivering the cake on the day and setting it up! The team were great at advising un on different designs for the cake, as I had wanted something floral, even trialling a design I wanted which I didn't go for in the end. The cake looked absolutely beautiful and also tasted amazing!! Thank you!!

Fernbank
6 Highfield Rd, ShanklinWe stayed four nights, travelling around the Island by bus and both agreed this was the nicest B & B we've been in! The location is perfect for bus-hopping holidays, with the Old Town just a five minute walk away down quiet streets (for routes 3 and the seasonal Island Coaster). The B & B itself is in a tranquil, secluded area on a hill with Palm Trees dotted around. We were even lucky enough to glimpse a sea view from our room (Room 8)!Rooms are homely and recently refurbished, with thick carpets, extremely comfy beds and are spotlessly clean. And then we have the breakfast - and what a breakfast it is! Please note that the breakfast is no longer a full cooked breakfast as it was with the previous owners, but it's still just as filling and tasty. You get to choose a cereal, a yoghurt, a homemade roll / croissant and various sweet and savoury toppings each day and it is delivered to the door of the room in a picnic hamper between 08.45 and 09.15, so no hectic starts for 7am brekkies! Fresh Milk is delivered each day (no UHT here!) from Island dairies, and each room has a small fridge for storage.Liz & Graham went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, with the nice touch of a large pack of shortbreads and fruit bowl waiting for us at the start of our stay. We'd thoroughly recommend it!

Tumblers Cafe

Tumblers Café – Shanklin
A proper no-nonsense greasy spoon and now a firm tradition for our family visits to the island. Right by the train station, cash-only, and full of charm.
The tea here, for some reason, tastes better than anywhere else — a real comfort in ways I can’t quite explain.
Hearty portions, great prices, and an old-school vibe. Not fancy — just exactly what you want from a breakfast café. We'll keep coming back. ?☕?

The Village Inn

Black Cat
83 High St, ShanklinA quaint homely family run Thai restaurant in the heart of Shanklin Old Village. Came here for dinner yesterday evening with my partner, the prices combined with the amazing quality and variety of dishes was superb. The massaman curry, Thai marinated chicken skewers and the stir fried chicken and prawn fried rice I highly suggest. The service was very fast, warm and attentive as well as being extremely accommodating letting us be able to dine 30 mins before their kitchen closed. I recommend this to anyone looking to have some wonderful freshly cooked Thai cuisine in a lovely relaxing environment!

Graces Bakery Shanklin
20 Regent St, ShanklinReally enjoyed my morning here. It was great service despite being really busy and there was a huge selection of pastries and sweet treats which made it hard to choose (a good problem however)! There was a chunky amount of vegetarian options too which make it great for anyone! Enjoyed my sausage roll (which I was asked if I wanted it heated up) and a fantastic moist donut. Will come again, brilliant!

The Crab
94 High St, ShanklinThe lamb shank on the bone was pretty nice with a portion of hot gravy on the plate. However the vegetables were not as hot and therefore let the plate down. My broccoli was pale and insipid looking compared to my husbands bright green aldente piece. When asked if all was ok I was offered some more veg, unfortunately still not hot. Nevermind, a bit hit and miss. very friendly staff.

4 Church Rd, ShanklinWe come here every year with International students and last Saturday reminded us why. Such a pretty place with best scones ever! My preference is the ginger ones and the savoury cream tea. Everyone loved it and staff, though super busy, were very friendly.

Dragon Pearl Chinese Restaurant
43 Atherley Rd, ShanklinVisited this restaurant whilst on holiday in the IOW. It seemed like a really lovely small family restaurant. Whilst the prices were a bit on the expensive side the food was super worth the price. It was freshly made, hot and not overly greasy. It beats takeaways by a long shot and everything was very well presented. Everything there was super clean and the atmosphere was lovely. I highly recommend this restaurant if you plan to visit the IOW and fancy some Chinese cuisine. I hope to visit this restaurant again on my return visit.
