Swan on the Green
The Green, West Peckham, Maidstone, MaidstoneA really lovely pub. We were driving back to Brighton from Whitstable and found the Swan after asking Google to find us a pub nearby. Sadly, as it was a Sunday and we hadn’t booked, we could only eat outside and the menu was fairly limited. This was totally understandable and the staff couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a good experience. My friend had sausages, eggs & chips which he enjoyed. It would’ve been nice if mash was an option as I would’ve gone for this. The rest of us had a ploughman’s, the cheeses were delicious but it came with only one slice of sourdough, cut in half, which was barely enough for one piece of cheese. When we asked for more, we were given it. Also, I think it would’ve been nice to have a little more salad or even some grapes on the ploughman’s as there was an excess of pickle but not much else. Overall though, whatever we asked for the staff accommodated us as best they could and I love the fact that it’s a community run
Pub. We are losing too many of our beautiful country pubs and I hope more go this way to save them.

The Moody Mare
501 Seven Mile Ln, MaidstoneGreat food, great service but rather noisy in the restaurant. Not a very good selection of beers and ciders.
Overall a pleasant Sunday roast, although I do object to a service charge being added. It should be up to me to tip as I see appropriate!
