Wow, what a superb country pub, great selection of beers and top quality food. Have enjoyed the steak & ale pie, the steak puddings & sweets (yes, I was full after each visit). A shame that from Apr '26, Punch Taverns take over, fingers crossed the chef stays on.

The Coach & Horses

Main St, Bolton by Bowland, Clitheroe

My wife and I had a lovely lunch at the Coach and Horses yesterday, I had a steak and ale pie, while she had the roast pork. We can honestly say it was one of the loveliest meals we've ever had. The owners were lovely and the service of the food was prompt.

Great pub surroundings.

Cannot recommend highly enough!

Very nice village in a quiet location a comfortable distance from the busy main road. Houses are all oldish and different. Plenty of history and a very good illustrated book on the village.
Shop and tearoom excellent. Thanks.

We enjoyed our stay at the Calf’s Head. We were attending a wedding at the Outbarn. We found the location a little remote but perfect if you just want some nice walks and peace and quiet. Food was really nice and rooms were clean.

Pavilion Coffee House

Clitheroe Rd, Chatburn, Clitheroe

We are in Clitheroe visiting family at least twice a year and we never miss stopping in Shackleton's to have a look around the gift shop and then have lunch in the Pavilions cafe. We were in today and I was a bit disappointed at the new menu, mostly because the croque monsieur is always my go-to. I had the beef brisket instead and it was very nice. Everyone at our table was pleased with our food. We didn't have hot drinks today but stopped in for coffees a few days ago and they were as gorgeous and tasty as always! My only critique-I keep hoping they will add noise reducing panels to the ceiling. It is very noisy and hard to even have a conversation at times when it is busy, which is most times!
