Caffè Curva
Market Place Hawes, Market Pl, HawesWe popped in to Caffè Curva today. It is clearly very popular with locals and visitors alike. Really dog friendly with water and a treat offered. Food for the humans was great too! My husband and son had the full English breakfast, which may keep them going all day. I had the avocado, poached egg and cherry tomatoes on sourdough toast with chilli jam, which was delicious. The coffee was excellent too and the service was lovely. I am sure we will pop back whilst we are in the area.

The White Hart Inn, Hawes
Main St, HawesHonestly, perhaps some of the best food I've had. Up there with some of the very top restaurants I've been to. The food feels genuinely home cooked, and is well prepared and presented. The venue is nice enough, and the staff on our first visit were excellent, although perhaps closer to average on our second visit.

Penny Garth Cafe
Market Pl, HawesPenny Garth is a lovely little cafe on the main street at Hawes. Nothing fancy just tasty, home made food at reasonable prices. I had the best bacon sandwich I've tasted for years. Everything was spotless, and the service was quick. We'd looked for a while at other places, which were all quite expensive, until we came across this little gem. It's a favourite with bikers too and is full of character.

TINE Restaurant
Simonstone Hall, HawesHad the pleasure of dining at the Tine restaurant as we were staying in Hawes for the weekend. The staff were so pleasant and welcoming. The decor was very tasteful and classical and loved the baby grand in the middle of the restaurant. We opted for the 3 courses for £59 and were not disappointed. The wait for food was not long at all and was piping hot. Nice little touches with different glassware for water decanters, simple but very much a conversation starter. We were made to feel we had all the time in the world and not made to feel rushed at all. Such a pleasant experience and a little gem of a place hidden in the hillside and I’ll definitely be back for a stay over. Keep doing what you are doing…

Voujon
Main Street, HawesGreat Indian food. Cash only, and we struggled to find an up to date menu online (but will attach one from August 2024 to this review). Staff were friendly , food (for takeaway) was ready when promised and the food was great. Atmosphere in the restaurant is unusual - it looks like an old pub with whitewashed walls - but seemed clean and airy. A great meal at a fair price!
Parking: There's quite a lot of free parking in Hawes but when it gets busy can be full. There's an inexpensive pay and display slightly up the hill that's an easy walk to the restaurant though.

Calvert's Restaurant
Wensleydale Creamery, Gayle Ln, Wensleydale, HawesWe arrived at about 1pm and there was no queue. We got booked in for 3pm after our cheese making talk, so that was perfect. The restaurant is situated inside the Wensleydale creamery. It’s spacious and modern, it would have been nicer to have been more Yorkshire. Maybe styled around Yorkshire farmhouse kitchens, but it was ok. It had views over the hills if you were lucky enough to be near the window. \n\nWe ordered cheese afternoon tea and it was lovely. We got Welsh rarebit (cheese melted on a toasted bread bun). Cheese quiche which was my favourite bit, macaroni cheese - which I found quite bland. There was also chips, a bit of salad, some fruit cake with Wensleydale cheese on and also some ginger cheese cake. I wasn’t that keen on the cheesecake. It had a very thin layer of base biscuit and masses of what seemed like cottage cheese and stem ginger on top. Far too sickly and I couldn’t eat it. If the biscuit was thicker and cheese part less, it would have been ok. We also got tea with the food. \n\nWe found the service slow and not that great, despite it not being that busy. But overall we liked most of the food and would visit again.
