Visited Richard III in Middleham last Sunday having had good Sunday lunches there in the past when we’ve been staying in the area. I was a bit disappointed initially as I found it had changed hands since I had previously eaten there last summer. However, my worries were unfounded. Our party had a fantastic Sunday lunch, two of us chose the roast beef and one the steak pie. The roast beef was excellent, as were the Yorkshire puds and the roast potatoes probably the nicest I’ve ever had. Veg well cooked without the sogginess of a lot of pub Sunday lunch veg. My friend had the steak pie which I tried and which was very, very good. We felt the food was very good value compared to many places, the service was very good and the whole pub had been nicely updated without losing its lovely character.
