Really nice cosy & welcoming pub, the Barman was lovely, locally known as Scottish Sam, he was very friendly, beer was good, nice atmosphere, we went on a Monday so it was quite quiet but I imagine its very busy at weekends, would recommend, but would point out they don't serve food.
I was visiting Pickering and popped in on a Wednesday night while walking the dog. The Sun was pretty quiet, but this was the right atmosphere to enjoy a quick pint. It had a good selection of beers, and I liked the decor. I would be extremely happy if this was my local. I tried the other drinking pubs in Pickering (not the two posh food ones!) and this was my favourite; refunded if you like good conversation and ales.

Great real ales that had changed the next day. Staff found us a table in the main bar as there was a band on in the side room and we’d got 2 dogs with us so was a bit too loud for them. Traditional style pub with books and games, wood burning fire, real ale pump clasps decorating the ceiling something of interest everywhere you looked, returned several times during our week long holiday
