We had a lovely afternoon here today. The food was delicious and beautiful. There were a small selection of Twinings tea on offer. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but towards the end of our afternoon, there were probably a change in shifts and it seemed only one waitress was rota’d in. So it took some time to get the bill. She was very nice anyway. I came to York travelling for few days. The food was great, various choices and well served . However I think this hotel need to pay more attention at maintenance. There is a night that hot water suddenly run out . After calling to the front desk, I realized that the boiler was broken and no hot water for bath for the night . Luckily I didn’t go to the gym and sweat a lot. But then I have to take a cold shower like those people in the Middle Ages. Using the kettle to boil water....read full review

Not really much to go on, it's bog standard tea in a nice setting.Doesn't feel much like a tea room, more like a waiting area that happens to serve tea.Nothing particularly fancy, selection of teas is very very small for a tea room (about 4 or 5 teas, including peppermint, English, Lemon and Ginger etc)I think we maybe were mislead by Google when looking for a proper tea room, so probably not the Garden Rooms fault.Just if you're looking for a selection of tea, maybe a cake, this...read full review
