The Horse Shoe
Bridge St, BamptonMy wife and I had called in here on Saturday 16th September to see if we could grab a bite to eat and a drink. Unfortunately at lunchtime they did not do any food but did kindly suggest another local place for us to eat at. After about an hour or so we returned to have a drink in the bar area and relax in what we thought was a superb traditional local pub which just had so much character. One of the locals made us feel very welcome and came over and had a chat with us both for about 10 minutes. He gave us some local history info and mentioned about the village and its links with the tv program Downton Abbey. All in all a very nice visit and if we were ever in the area again we would not hesitate in calling in. Thank you.

The Plough Inn Alvescot
Main Rd, Alvescot, BamptonFood was outstanding; scotch egg with homemade piccalli then pork chop with colcannon potato. I was able to walk in and get a table with no drama at no notice this evening. Welcoming service with a smile and polite chat. Will be coming back to work through the rest of the menu. Nom nom

Bampton Coffee House
Market Sq, BamptonStopped in for a quick moment, grabbed a drink and an absolute delicious piece of their Caramel Shortbread. Perfect balance of tastes. The server running the counter was super pleasant and funny. Great recommendations on what to get and places of interest. the bathroom was a single use but very clean.

The Vines
Burford Rd, Black Bourton, BamptonThis hotel is lovely we have stayed here before and had a lovely room, but at our last stay, the room was tiny. No wardrobe, just a small hanging rail. No clothes storage draws. The kettlen in the room was under a table! The lead was not long enough to put it on the table. It was also very near the kitchen and was bothered by a noisey fan. For an overnight stay, this might have been fine, but two people for a week way to small. Every thing else about this hotel was great. Food was excellent as was the service.
