B480, Cuxham, WatlingtonWe went to The Half Moon Cuxham for lunch. My husband ordered a pizza and I ordered the Cannelloni. The food was delicious. Best Italian food we’ve had in a while. Even though we’re only visiting the area, we’ll definitely come back.

Britwell Salome, WatlingtonWe recently moved to the area and decided to try The Red Lion for lunch today and we are so glad we did. What a lovely little find.
The pub has that lovely, welcoming, traditional village pub feel to it where you instantly feel comfortable.
We both had two courses from the midweek menu and honestly the food was absolutely delicious. My partner had the ham, egg, chips and peas. I had the sausages, mash, vegetables and gravy. The sausages were from The Red Lion Farm Shop which is literally walking distance from the pub and they were so yummy. You could really appreciate the quality of the food.
For dessert we both had the apple and cinnamon crumble with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and wow incredible. It’s hard to describe how good it was but I genuinely think this was some of the best pub food I’ve had in a very long time.
The value for money was fantastic too with two courses for just £14 per person.
The service was just as lovely as the food. The young gentleman behind the bar and the young woman serving us at the table were both polite, professional, friendly and welcoming. It really made the whole experience even better.
We’ve only recently moved to the area and it’s so lovely to discover a pub like this on our doorstep. We’ll absolutely be back and would highly recommend The Red Lion to anyone looking for delicious, high quality food, lovely service and a proper welcoming village pub atmosphere.

The Granary Cafe
18 High St, WatlingtonI’ve been working in Oxford and the surrounds and enjoyed some great breakfasts and a lunch here. A terrific find. Good coffee (with a delicious mini homemade shortbread!) lovely staff and very much above average freshly prepared food. I’d recommend 100%!

As an organiser for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, finding a reliable, high-quality, and accommodating meal stop for forty-plus hungry students is always a challenge. The Kingfisher Fish and Chips in Watlington doesn't just meet that challenge; they absolutely exceed it. We make a point of visiting this fantastic chippy twice a year, and every single time, it's a genuine highlight.
The staff truly deserve the highest praise. They are always incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient, managing the large, sudden influx of customers with grace and good humour. Dealing with a massive group of students can't be easy, but they handle it brilliantly, making our visit seamless.
Now, for the food—it is, quite simply, excellent. The fish and chips are a consistent winner:
* The batter is very crispy and light, a sign of perfectly cooked fish.
* The chips are the perfect temperature and, crucially, super crispy—never soggy!
* Everything is cooked exceptionally well, ensuring the food is very good and not oily at all.
From start to finish, the quality is superb. We keep coming back year after year because we absolutely love it. Thank you to the Kingfisher team for being such a wonderful, reliable, and delicious stop on our expeditions. Highly recommended!

The Fox & Hounds
The Fox & Hounds, Christmas Common, WatlingtonBest pub in Christmas Common, perhaps even the country. Delightful atmosphere, delicious pints, and terrific food. The owner behind the bar is a dashing gentleman in his prime, with funny anecdotes, he will make you want to linger longer and longer. Cannot recommend this place enough!
