Fantastic pizza! I popped in early evening for dinner with my daughter who loves a good pizza. She was not disappointed! Great service and generous pizzas. Large, loads of toppings and very very fresh! DELICIOUS! My only comment would be that it wasn't very warm... On a wet cold night a fire would've made the night out. But loved it anyway. Highly recommended.

Really nice (and extremely hot!) Club sandwich with chips. Obviously freshly done. Ironic that no granary bread is available but sourdough was equally nice. Friendly service and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere.

Our snack stop at the Spire and Spoke was a highlight of our cycle tour along the Ridgeway. Lovely coffee and cake. The pizzas looked and smelt great too. Nice to feel welcome as cyclists with somewhere to park our bikes.

Beautiful food. Wonderful staff! The two ladies serving were lovely to my young son. The only thing was that the table next to us were very loud and were shouting very inappropriate things which ruined the atmosphere slightly. But to no fault of the staff or pub. Would definitely visit again ❤️

Atmosphere, Food & Service all impeccable. Delighted to see it hasn't changed over the decades, with New owners over the time the ambience has remained. Congratulations! We'll be over again in the Spring. Thank You to all for making our lunch time so memorable.

Always very friendly and welcoming and food is always thoroughly enjoyed. To top it off, they also donated some food for free for a local kids club to sample in celebration of Chinese New Year.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Excellent Food and Outstanding Service at House of Spice

I had a fantastic experience dining at House of Spice. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely top-notch — full of rich flavors, cooked beautifully, and served piping hot. Every dish I tried was bursting with authentic taste, especially the [insert favorite dish if you’d like to customize it].

A special mention goes to Mr. Kamali, who served me with exceptional professionalism and friendliness. He made the experience even more enjoyable with his attentive service and kind demeanor. It’s always great to be looked after by someone who clearly cares about customer satisfaction.

Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates quality food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning!

Very nice lunch for 4 of us on a Friday, with friendly staff and attractive surroundings. One star down for service as we had booked and arrived at 1.15pm, but didn't get our food until 2.15, apparently because earlier bookings had arrived late.

Kingfisher Fish and Chips, Watlington: A Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Favourite!

As an organiser for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, finding a reliable, high-quality, and accommodating meal stop for forty-plus hungry students is always a challenge. The Kingfisher Fish and Chips in Watlington doesn't just meet that challenge; they absolutely exceed it. We make a point of visiting this fantastic chippy twice a year, and every single time, it's a genuine highlight.
The staff truly deserve the highest praise. They are always incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient, managing the large, sudden influx of customers with grace and good humour. Dealing with a massive group of students can't be easy, but they handle it brilliantly, making our visit seamless.
Now, for the food—it is, quite simply, excellent. The fish and chips are a consistent winner:
* The batter is very crispy and light, a sign of perfectly cooked fish.
* The chips are the perfect temperature and, crucially, super crispy—never soggy!
* Everything is cooked exceptionally well, ensuring the food is very good and not oily at all.
From start to finish, the quality is superb. We keep coming back year after year because we absolutely love it. Thank you to the Kingfisher team for being such a wonderful, reliable, and delicious stop on our expeditions. Highly recommended!
