If you want to try a genuine old style Scottish bar, this is a good choice in the regenerated, historic West End of Hawick next to the old kirk and Drumlanrig tower. Female people like me are in the minority (except behind the bar) but made to feel welcome, as is Zorro, the cocker spaniel. H says the beer is good. The wine come in those wee bottles so the choice is red or white but perhaps that's better than the dubious stuff that gets served up in many English pubs these days....read full review
