Having read the favourable reviews, I had looked forward to lunch here but, sadly, left feeling disappointed. The smell of old fat was off-putting. The chips tasted of old fat - and for some reason the cook had decided to season them for me - far too much salt and pepper. The friendly staff must have been having a day off. A smile would have been welcome.
Our first time visiting the Stables Bistro was quite the disappointment. The food was of average quality and the burger could do with a bit of seasoning. The service however was quite poor; the waitress looked like she needed a decent sleep and her stoic expression matched the nonplussed behaviour throughout the experience. Great place for breakfast, lunch, snack or just a coffee and bit of cake. Nice relaxing warm surroundings, nice place to look over at the working stables from your table whilst having your lunch having a chat. Great place to bring your family as there's usually something going on in the yard or outdoor arena.
