We finally made it to the Grant Arms in Monymusk after talking about going for over a year, and it was definitely worth the drive from Aberdeen.

The Sunday roast here is genuinely fantastic, easily one of the best I've had (and I've had many). The food rivals what you'd expect from a Rosette or Michelin-recognised establishment, but with that proper village pub feel you don't find very often anymore.

When our serving board arrived, it was generously laden with perfectly roasted seasonal vegetables, beautifully prepared meats, and all the trimmings. The portions were incredibly generous – despite our best efforts, we had to concede defeat and happily took the leftovers home.

This Sunday roast was nothing short of incredible, especially considering the price. We're already talking about going back to try some of their other dishes, or else challenge ourselves to finish another Sunday roast in one sitting.

Couple of important notes – you absolutely need to book ahead as they get busy. Also, they don't serve alcohol but do offer BYOB. If you're travelling via Westhill, the BP station there has one of the best cold beer selections you'll find in the northeast, along with a decent wine selection – perfect for picking up something on the way.
