This pub totally made our weekend We stumbled upon it wandering round and the minister we stepped in we knew it was a great find! Paul the owner is so charming and utterly hilarious He really looked after us so much so that we ended up cancelling our lunch booking ? Came across this cosy, old town centre pub by accident on a cold January afternoon. My wife and I popped in to warm up with whisky macs around 4.00 pm. Small entrance bar was fairly full of 'mature' locals. Bags of atmosphere, good music (for baby boomers like us). Barman (of whom I've read some of the derogatory reviews) was absolutely fine. Friendly atmosphere and banter. Militaria, music, and rugby memorabilia on the walls. Music is better than your usual pub, apart from the occassional ska playlist! Regulars are good value, the landlord has a "unique" sense of humour... like Jack Dee, if he lived in the West Country and was "Welsh".
