We revisited Platform One a short while ago and only visited because of the decor! This railway station(which I listed) is in beautiful condition and was on the Sudbury to Cambridge line which has been defunct for roughly 60 years. The cafe is overlooked by the ruined castle and the decor is excellent. We only had a cup of tea and a toilet break.... I've been to a few on this old line with Cavendish being the next station. This is a really lovely little cafe. The staff are really polite and the food is amazing. We had hot chocolates, tea, fruit scone, sausage bap and soup and it was all amazing. Empty plates all round! We will definitely come back sometime.It is also a dog friendly cafe too which we love.

There is little need for much imagination to see how this place would have looked when the trains were thundering past. Much of the old station is still in situ, but one building has been well converted into a cute little cafe with an obvious railway theme. Plenty of lunchtime choice from soups to cakes and plenty in between. My slice of carrot cake was spot on.
