Have been twice for the quiz. First time was wonderful no problems. Bar staff are wonderful and fairly consistent in terms of people behind the bar. Very friendly. Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the quizmaster, otherwise excellent, took very long breaks in between questions.Other than that, great staff, beer is reasonably priced (around £4-6 a pint (although there's also a 10% student discount)), quiz is fun although slow at times, and the atmosphere is great.
I love this pub, it's the oldest in Ipswich and my great uncle and aunt ran it in the early 20th Century so I can't say anything bad about it even if I could. Oh, and cats!
This pub has grown so much over the years & truely is my favourite. The staff are always incredibly friendly & the venue itself is beautiful. The outside garden is such a hidden gem, you definitely dont feel like you are in the middle of ipswich. I always feel safe & comfortable here, if there is anyone that causes trouble it is delt with calmly & quickly by the wonderful manager.
