Stopped in for a pint after an excellent stroll around the statue park across the road. Pubs in a great location but very clearly designed for wannabe Upper middle class diners, tried to get served at the bar but we were directed to a sofa table by a rather officious young man who definitely fits well with the snooty vibes, paying a £2 service charge to have our pints walked all of the 5ft from the easily accessible bar was definitely a bit rich. Food 4/5The bread came with a neutral oil. We asked for butter which came fridge temperature and unsalted.Our steak was excellent but accompanying new potatoes were slightly undercooked.Their veal jus is overly seasoned for my taste, and I enjoy salt.Although they have a Coravin they are only willing to use it on 3 wines.The chef adapted well to allergies.Tarte tartin is excellentService 4/5A touch slow at times, a little unfamiliar with wine and how to pour it. Food & drinks: We came across the Bel & The Dragon when we visited the sculpture park across the road and we were looking for place to have a lunch.Luckily at the time of our visit there were places available and we were invited to the table.The hotel and the bar were beautifully decorated. We visited on the 3rd of January, so Christmas decorations were still on.The variety of meal choices on the menu there made the room spin around. :) If I could, I would try everything!...read full review
