Three Tuns
Broad St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordVery human- and dog-friendly, accommodating pub. We had a table of 6 arrive late for lunch service but we were welcomed with a smile. We initially wanted the garden but it was busy so we found a lovely table tucked away which turned out better (cooler, quieter and comfortable for people amd dogs alike). I had the chicken salad which was generous and delicious. The burger was also tasty and the 3 pizzas were all wolfed down with a smile. Great food. We were given a bowl of water for the dogs too.

The Sandwich Cellar
2 Backfold, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordCute little restaurant on our stop in the town of Hay-on-Wye in Wales along the way to Liverpool. Sandwiches are different than what we are used to in the USA but was absolutely delicious. The people that live and work there are so friendly and helpful.

The Bulls Head
Craswall, HerefordWonderful warm atmosphere with open fire and cozy, comforting surroundings. The food was packed full of flavour. We had the most tender Angus T-Bone steak. The dessert was absolutely amazing as well. The service was friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to visit again!

The Old Black Lion
The Old Black Lion, 26 Lion St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordArrived for a drink with my grumpy, elderly mother & her dog, forgetting it was Sunday lunch! We were welcomed by a friendly gentleman who went out of their way to find us a comfy spot to sit even though they were in the middle of a very busy lunch service. We had a lovely glass of wine & a coffee, both of a high standard. The food looked and smelled fabulous and after the personal service we received I will definitely come back to try the Sunday roast. What a great find!

Off Grid Gourmet
Walkers Cottage Campsite, parks road, HerefordA really wonderful meal in a lovely setting. Every course was delicious, starting with butternut squash and pesto soup, then marinated chicken salad, yummy slow cooked lamb for main with an amazing truffled mushroom risotto and much much more through to cheese board, coffee and toasted marshmallows. Hugh creates the most brilliant food and was the perfect host to this unique outdoor dinner party. Highly recommended - we’ll definitely be back.

Drovers Rest Farm Kitchen
Off Watery Ln, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordI randomly came across this place on a hiking trail. Saw the colourful sofas, the fairy lights and the lush smell of an open fire so wandered in to see what is was all about and ended up booking in for one of their ‘wild feasts’ that evening for me and a mate.
I loved it! We had pulled lamb burgers fries and banana cake fritters with ice cream. Amazing quality it tasted delicious. The service was soooo friendly. Fully stocked bar, welcoming friendly atmosphere. £20 for 2 courses so really good value.
The place is so unique all around a South African theme. The views are amazing it is such an oasis.
It’s a wedding venue plus restaurant on Monday, weds and Sunday lunch. You need to book online 24 hours before

Shepherds Parlour
9 High Town, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordLovely cafe and food. Dog friendly inside, ground floor. 1 star down as it was very noisy due to a lot of banging and clattering of dishes. Maybe a one off. There is a small outside area which i hadn't realised belonged to them .

The Granary
20, 21 Broad St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordStopped right outside today and was pleasantly surprised to see empty tables inside. Every time I’ve visited Hay it’s packed to the rafters. It’s lovely to see dogs welcome sign too.
I ordered at the counter with a very friendly young lady that enquired about my small dog, whilst she served me.
We had Americano, latte and shared a delicious piece of carrot cake this morning.
The hot food coming out from kitchen looked superb also.
The toilet facilities were spotless. Nice to see a baby change station too. Would certainly return when I’m next in Hay.

Red Indigo
10 Castle St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordAte here Monday 14/07/25 after a recommendation from a gentleman we got chatting to whilst looking for somewhere to eat in Hay-on-wye. Oh my so glad we went. I had a chicken stir fry from their 'lighter' on calories selection. My husband had vegetable korma. Both were very well presented and really delicious. The staff are lovely and made us feel very welcome. If ever we pass through Hay again we will definitely return. Best wishes, Cathy & Steve, Worcestershire.

The Blue Boar
Castle St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordWe recently hosted a gathering with our British & Italian families and had dinner at the Blue Boar. Scarlet was super helpful and she booked for us the perfect table for the occasion and provided us with a menu a few days in advance in order to have the dinner ready shortly after our arrival. The service as usual was spot on and the food quality along with the care they take in tailoring their menu just made the event memorable. We will definitely come again whenever we are in Hay-on-Wye for some nice food and drinks. Thank you!

Hay Takeaway
7 Broad St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordPopped in around 7.30 pm. Ordered small cod, chip shop curry sauce and a chicken burger. That cod was something else!!!- thin crispy batter aswell as fresh fish & the ultimate chippy curry sauce was the ultimate combination!! Hats off to the best local ‘chippy tea’ for miles in my honest opinion. When you’re visiting hay-on-wye make sure you pop in for the best chippy scran there is to offer for miles!!!

Hay Castle Cafe
Oxford Rd, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordHad breakfast here twice during a stay near Hay despite having seen some less than favourable reviews. Was far better than other breakfasts that we had during our stay. The service was efficient, staff were friendly and the food was great. Portions were huge and everything was well cooked and served on a hot plate. Really couldn't fault anything.

Oscars Bistro
2 High Town, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordOscars Bistro is a lovely eatery in Hay on Wye. Their burgers are really good. The cafe is not dog friendly, but they do have some seating outside that is dog friendly. The place is quite popular, so we had a bit of a wait on our visit. Well worth it though.
