Crocketts
7 High St, PresteigneWent to Crocketts for New Year's eve as the food was highly recommended. Each dish was beautifully presented and had a individual twist that made us wanting to order everything. The beef brisket in tiny Yorkshire puddings were to die for. The service was exceptionally friendly and the personal touch is what sets the restaurant apart from samey corporate restaurants that have a predictable menus. Highly recommended

Red Lion Country Inn B&B & restaurant, self catering
The Red Lion Country Inn. Co. Uk, Llanfihangel-nant-Melan, New Radnor, PresteigneStopped in on the way to Wales - beautiful garden, delicious chips and lovely friendly owners. Now so pleased the road was closed and we couldn't access the local services - this is much better.

Lorna's Sandwich Shop
48 High St, PresteigneMy partner and I have been holidaying in the local area and we decided to pop into Lorna's based on the great reviews. Well, we ended up visiting throughout our visit, picking up a lovely lunch each day to sustain us during long walks!!The sandwiches and rolls are excellent value for money, being very generously filled. The quiches, tarts and pastries were smashing and the cakes and sweet treats were delicious. The chocolate chip shortbread is particularly morish and took me back to my childhood and the shortbread my mum used to make for me.The staff members were lovely and friendly and I can see why there are so many regulars (I certainly would be one if I lived in the area!!!).

Daphne’s
53 High St, PresteigneWe ordered 8 pizzas to take out as we were a big group of 12. It can get pretty busy so you usually have to book in advance, even for takeaway slots.Brilliant pizzas, friendly service, so nice to find this gem in Presteigne. Also love that the menu changes on a weekly basis to make use of various local ingredients. Also bought a bottle of the Skyborry Cider - made just up the road - really tasty stuff!

The Royal George
Lingen, BucknellA truly wonderful local pub at the heart of this lovely village. The friendly atmosphere and superb generous food at excellent prices make this a great value for money pub.I had my substantial 12oz Herefordshire steak cooked medium and it was so flavoursome and seared to perfection. My wife had the Beef Bourginon and it instantly became her favourite go-to meal.

Wild Thyme Italian
10 High St, PresteigneWe enjoyed a lovely evening in this small (ish) Italian inspired resturant last summer. I still dream about the lasagna 6 months later. It was very busy when we arrived and the front of house (Who we later found out was the owners son) was rushed off his feet. He was coping well though and was very efficient. For us it was a relaxed experience and when things calmed down later in the evening we were able to have a good chat about pretty much everything as well as the food. We really enjoyed it and would very much recommend both the food and service.
