11 Heol Maengwyn, MachynllethPre-booked a table of 8 during our family holiday after reading excellent reviews. We ordered a range of meals and every plate was amazing. All arrived hot and delicious. 2 Welsh lamb rogan josh with a side of garlic naan to share, really tasty, lots of lamb and tasted amazing.
Shoulder of lamb was huge, lots of meat and no gristle or skin and a really tasty gravy to go with the sides. Pie of the day was a proper pie. Seabass was beautifully presented and the sides were cooked to perfection. Welsh lamb lasagne tasted great and was a good portion. Kids meals were well sized and when we asked for an extra plate it was no problem.
The service was excellent, couldn't have asked for better and the children were well looked after and had lots of games to play.
From the outside it was deceptively small but inside it was modern, clean and welcoming.
We ate early evening and lots of tables were reserved which I think is a good sign.
I'm told the beers were good and I can confirm the wine was delicious.
A fabulous dining experience given our party size and little people, I wish I lived closer as I'd happily make it my regular.

Gwen Restaurant and Wine Bar

The Gwen restaurant was intimate and all the staff were extremely knowledgeable
The tasting menu was varied with lots of little extras, the food was exquisite and expertly explained in each course. Corrin and Jaimee have developed a real culinary experience which is intimate and inclusive while sharing with other diners

Riverside Hotel Pennal
Pennal, MachynllethWe stayed in Pennal for 3 nights and visited the pub every night and ate there twice! The service was brilliant and everyone was so friendly. Big shout out to Ian the Manager who made us feel very welcome and Tes who was an absolute diamond. The burgers we had on Friday were delicious and the Sunday dinner we booked for Sunday evening was worth waiting all day for! Our dogs were absolutely fussed over and loved dozing by the fire. So glad we found this little gem to spend our 10th anniversary and would love to visit again

13 Penrallt St, MachynllethA small but fantastic tastebud tantalising gourmet packed deli in a small market town punching higher than many of the finest delicatessens in the UK. Definitely the place to go to completely fill your picnic hamper - or to grab a superior quality work lunch!!!

Dolgelynen Farmhouse
Machynlleth, PowysWe recently stayed at Dolgelynen 20 years ago and this was our first time back since.It is a beautiful location with stunning views over the dyfi river and valley.Mrs Evans is a very friendly and welcoming person on arrival you get a traditional Welsh welcome with refreshments and home made Welsh cakes before showing you to your room.It is a traditional farmhouse that is unchanged from the last time we visited, Mrs Evans takes great pride in offering customer satisfaction right throughout it is immaculately clean, the beds are amazingly comfortable and the Welsh breakfast is delicious.We love this place and look forward to our next visit again.I would highly recommend anyone to visit and enjoy the experience

Canolfan Owain, Glyndwr, Heol Maengwyn, MachynllethVisited this cafe for the first time on Wednesday and very much enjoyed our visit.\\nI particularly liked that they had a base price for breads, jacket potatoes etc and you chose your toppings which were all individually priced. My friend is vegetarian and had lots of choice too. My jacket potato was yummy, lots of butter, with cheese and bacon and some cherry tomatoes with seasoning on, they were delicious. My friend had hummus and red onion on her sani.\\nWe also had tea and a cappuccino. I liked that there were obviously regulars dotted about with their laptops, bodes well. Only downside, I initially sat on a very soft sofa and sank in so beware of that if you are not so mobile as getting out was fun! Lovely friendly smiley lady with dark hair served us. Would recommend ?

14 Penrallt St, MachynllethPopped in for a drink on the way to the nearby train station and was impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere of a traditional pub in the lounge bar. The service was good and friendly too.

The lamb madras was fiery but with a slightly sweet flavour which was delicious. The lamb was tender. The sag aloo had a great flavour. The mushroom rice was great. The chapati also was fresh. The poppadoms were crunchy and the dips were spot on.
The portions were big. Plus I was given a free popadom and a dip. The waiter who served me was friendly.
I'd definitely come back and I hope the top standards continue.
9.5 out of 10.

China Garden Take Away
40 Heol Maengwyn, MachynllethThis is the place you've been looking for!! Honestly, I kind of want to gatekeep this spot, but it's too good not to share. The food is phenomenal, and the atmosphere is incredible, it feels like an old-school California Cantonese dining experience, which is so rare these days. It's such a treat to find a true gem like this in the SFV. I would literally drive across L.A. just to eat here again. I'm obsessed. Also, the woman who helped me tonight was so lovely, kind, professional, and genuinely warm but not at all overbearing which is really important to me as someone that goes out a lot. 10/10, this place is special. AND there's parking!!
