Visited mid week with friends. The bar was empty except for one local sitting by the fire. More locals arrived while we were there. The barmaid was very friendly. We all ordered the steak and ale pie with shortcrust pastry, £14.95. It arrived in its own bowl with puff pastry. There were skin on chips and big bowl of mushy peas. Two huge jugs of gravy arrived. I informed the barmaid about the pastry being different to the menu and she informed me that she didn’t know the difference....read full review

Michell has managed to achieve something here that most pubs fail at. She welcomes diners and regulars without each feeling they are in the way of the other. Fabulous stone exterior, really nicely decorated interior, extremely welcoming and friendly, good food at reasonable prices. The overall experience is 10 out of 10.

Second visit for food. Lamb shank was very tasty, wife had the Rag (local dish) also fantastic and the kids sausage and mash was also very good. Interiors clean and inviting. Staff welcoming. Only wish would be that they had real ales but plenty of other selection so not an issue. Highly recommended
