I just wanted to share a review of this hotel, because they were so helpful when we experienced a problem with one of our rooms (not their fault at all, just one of those things). Staff went above and beyond and our stay was great. I also want to note that their breakfast was one of the best we've ever had - absolutely delicious!

The tastiest full English breakfast I have ever eaten in my life! I stayed at The Royal Standard on Saturday night with 2 friends for our visit to the Luxmuralis show at the Catherdral and my only regret is that we didn’t eat our evening meal here as well as breakfast. We live locally & The Royal Standard has become our favourite place to eat. We had dinner there last night and even though it was very busy staff were ready to make our evening enjoyable. Table service was excellent from start to finish. Both my pork tenderloin and my husband’s fillet steak were outstanding: food quality, flavours and presentation. There was a buzzing atmosphere in the bar and relaxed chat in the restaurant. We had a perfect evening and will be back soon!
