First time we’ve been there. The pub has a fantastic bar. wood fires at both ends, low beams, well lit, not bright but really well and matches the setting. There’s a decent amount of choice in lagers and ales. Suzie had me sample some of the local ales before making my choice. The bar, tables, toilet and outside were spotless. The Hanging Gate really has it all. Very close to Belper but feels in the heart of the countryside. Pleasant, caring staff, Heather and Jam who treated my 91-year-old Mother- and Father-in-law as their own family. The occasion was the opportunity to get the in-laws out of the house for a meal. Ideal spot for Sunday Lunch. We have become regulars on a Sunday for Lunch as the food is superb. Staff are extremely hospitable and the pub has some amazing views. Would highly recommend.
