Bar in

“Cosy, dog-friendly pub with excellent food and good selection of drinks including cocktails and beers. We came here for dinner on a foggy Friday at the end of October and it was so good we came back again for dinner the next day! The menu has the usual suspects: scampi, burgers, Mac and cheese, but also home made pies. We chose the cheese and onion pies which come with mushy peas (or garden if you prefer), chunky chips and gravy. The pies were perfect and proved to be a substantial dinner - just right after a foggy afternoon's walking. Our son in law went for the gammon and turkey pie and was equally impressed. The Mac and cheese with (and without) bacon was lovely and came with a good amount of salad and a couple of slices of delicious garlic bread. Our Saturday evening dinner was just as good. The beers are well kept and the espresso martinis (instead of coffees) were very good.Service was friendly (a bit slow on Friday) and helpful. Everywhere was clean and all of the dogs were well behaved. Our dinners were good value for money and we will return when next visiting Buxton.”

“Enjoyed a family meal here, with 3 grandchildren, and 5 adults last night . The food was excellent and the service efficient and very friendly. The children enjoyed their kids meals of chicken nuggets or sausage and all the adults all left very clean plates !I loved my steak and ale pie ( one of the best I've had) and the chips were just excellent ...so tasty. Husband enjoyed his belly pork with crackling. Will definitely be going here again.”

“Visited before a play. Lively atmosphere and decor. We were served really quickly. Plenty to choose from. Vegetarian options are available. Had a choice of Pepsi and Coca-Cola! The food was piping hot (throughout) and very tasty.”

“Dropped in for a visit after making the trip up to watch my local club Rushall play Buxton at Silverlands and this was my first point of call.Opposite the church, its a tidy little microesque bar. Walking in on a cool October day it was really warming (literally) to have the fire crackling away at the one end.At the other is the bar, with a comic book littered wall of inages on the one side. At first I thought the choice was a little limited, with 4 different tipples to choose from but I went for a different one each time and they were all brilliant choices.Coming in not long after opening time the bar filled up quickly with easygoing regulars, people visiting the area and a few Buxton fans. The music played at an eqsy volume was exceptional also and I think later at night this takes more centre stage with a DJ Booth within the pub itself. Thanks also to all involved for running out the pub to tell me I'd rather drunkenly forgot my bag ?. Massively appreciated!”

“Can't rate highly enough. Called in on a rainy Tuesday evening with a wet dog and without a reservation. Even though the restaurant was busy the owner was warm and welcoming and found us a table immediately. Food was lovely as was the atmosphere. Definitely recommend ?”

“Ordered a Sunday roast which came with plenty of veg and three different kinds of potatoes. I very much enjoyed it. Two meals and drinks came to about £30 so good value. Friendly atmosphere, staff were really nice. Toilets could have been a bit cleaner though.”
