Having booked a last minute break here, we thought it would be a standard type pub b&b but boy were we wrong. Upon arrival we entered a clean welcoming pub with friendly staff and great ambiance. The rooms ( of which there were only 3) were extremely well decorated and very clean the shower was a rainfall shower with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Visited as a family party of 6 at lunchtime and all had the tasting menu. This is fine dining, so everything is exquisite, with thought and attention to detail, from the canapés to the pudding. The menu will, no doubt, have changed by the time you read this, but the artichoke was impressive, the sauce under the fish v v lovely and the celeriac mash accompanying the chicken was smooth and light as a mousse. Mark and his team really have a passion for food. It isn’t cheap pub food despite looking like a pub from the outside, but flavoursome and beautifully presented. Prepared with fresh local ingredients where possible we have eaten here across different seasons and not been disappointed. If you want slick fast food this isn’t for you.
